the repairs elected to pull the axles and hubs, allowing inspection
not only of the brakes, but also the wheel bearings. Here, the
capscrews securing the axle shafts are being removed.


After   straightening   the bent-over   portion of  the adjusting   lock    nut,
the outer wheel bearing adjusting nut can be removed, as seen
here. The same wrench is used to remove the inner adjusting nut.
This is followed by removing the outer bearing seal (rear axles
only), the outer bearing cones, and at last the hub and drum
assembly. The oil stains visible on the hub are evidence of
forthcoming problems.
