Dalmia DSP Success Story

TECHNICAL PREPARATION 25

Since the guarantee was on petcoke grinding we have asked
suppliers to design all system auxiliaries for coal grinding so
that in future auxiliaries shall not be a bottleneck.

Reverse Air Bag House Vs Pulse Jet Bag Filter

As both the technologies, i.e. Reverse Air Bag House
(RABH) and Pulse Jet Bag filter (PJBF) are widely used in the
industry, we need to really evaluate both the technologies
for kiln/raw mill application. We had floated enquiry to M/s
Himenviro, Elex, GE, Thermax, Airtech (FLSmidth), Isgec,
and Clair to offer us both RABH and PJBF for kiln/raw
mill application, to have in-depth brainstorming along with
all suppliers to analyse which system was better in terms
of efficiency, life, maintenance friendliness, initial CAPEX
(equipment cost, civil cost, and erection cost) and overall
operating expenses.
The major cost component of both the technologies
were bags and in case of RABH the life of the bag was
almost double than PJBF due to gentle cleaning process.
The operating cost was lower in case of RABH due to
lower pressure drop and power consumption as there was
no compressed air requirement in RABH for bag cleaning.
Also, the maintenance requirement was lower in case of
RABH.
Normally in industry PJBF is preferred on account
of lower footprint area and lesser initial cost but if we
consider PJBF we have to construct load centre building
as a separate building or else we have to increase the
footprint area beneath the PJBF, where the additional civil
