Dalmia DSP Success Story

(Project Pridr) #1

56 PROjECT PRIDE

plant and machinery was selected.
For construction works, we had invited offers from all
the contractors in category A & B and then awarded the
contracts to category A contractor for all the main process
buildings and some of the non-critical work to category B
contractors to optimize the cost.
We obtained the project import licence on time for
all the imported plant and machinery and cleared all the
equipment under the scheme effectively and efficiently.
We received imported equipment at different ports like
Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, etc., and timely clearance was
done.
Under project import licence the basic customs duty is
concessional, i.e. 5% against the normal basic custom duty
of 7.5% leading to savings of 2.75%, including cess.
In addition to project import licence, Project Pride was
also cleared under EPCG licence saving 100% duty and IGST.
All the plant and machinery were delivered on time
and much ahead of requirement at the site based on the
project erection schedule. Apart from this, we expedited
the delivery of some of the items with special efforts leading
to timely completion of erection work.
We procured and arranged 35,235 MT (TMT – 16,708,
structural steel – 8,740, plates – 9,786) steel for the project
and on time. We signed memorandum of understanding
(MOU) with primary steel suppliers like SAIL, JSPL and
negotiated TOD and cash discount and priority to the
delivery of steel. We sourced major steel, i.e. 91% from the
primary steel producers.
