Dalmia DSP Success Story

(Project Pridr) #1
ExECUTION PROCEss EsTABLIsHmENT 59

Since this was a fast-track project, Holtec aligned its
resources to cope up with the required schedule for the
release of construction and fabrication drawings. The RCC
drawings delivered for a fast-track project enabled the civil
construction of pre-heater in the shortest possible time to
set a new world record.
To ensure fast-track project execution, it was cardinal
to finish project engineering as per schedule. We were
supported by EP supplier in timely submission of design
inputs for detailing. Project Engineering team worked 24X7
to ensure completion of the majority of civil engineering
within 6–7 months from zero date. This also ensured that
onsite contractor had enough fronts to engage his team and
all available resources. To save time in approval of OEM’s GA
drawings regular meetings were held at OEM and consultant
offices to approve the drawings across the table for timely
input for engineering & release of construction drawings.
Over the past few years, BIM has become very popular in
the construction industry and this technology has recently
entered the cement industry. For the first time Holtec did
the engineering on BIM platform. Holtec adopted BIM
modelling on the Autodesk platform. For the first time,
Holtec virtually built the buildings/structures on the BIM
platform before they were constructed physically. This
eliminated most of the conflicts that arise during project
construction.
The benefits were visible in the conceptualization stage
itself before the commencement of detailed engineering. Revit
was used for RCC structure – provided GA and rebar details
