FINE ART CHARCOAL

I am primarily a dry media artist, working in graphite, charcoal and pastels. My work focuses on portraiture, both from live and photographic archives
to create works of art for future generations. I continue to study at the Academy of Realist Art, learning classical drawing and painting skills based on
19th century European atelier techniques. @luannemaskell
“I grew up seeing so many wonderfully moody, dramatic portraits of musicians in famous magazines such as Rolling Stone
and Spin. I wanted to give my husband Steve, a career musician, the dramatic 'Rock-Star' portrait that he deserves! I knew
that Nitram Charcoal would allow me to create the mood and drama that I was looking to achieve.
I was first introduced to Nitram Charcoal at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, where I used it for both cast and figure
drawing. I love working with Nitram Charcoal – it gives me the ability to 'sculpt' while I draw. Nitram Charcoal possesses
a range of charcoal sticks that allow me to create atmospheric, broad strokes and highly rendered, tight finished drawings.”
