Buthisstardidn’tstayhiddenforlong,andhe
wassoondiscoveredbyshopownerEstrid
Ericson,whoneededa newdesignertooverhaul
herbusiness,SvensktTenn.Underherguidance,
Frankbecameunstoppable.Hecreateda wealth
ofdesignsinspiredbylushbotanicalsthatgained
internationalrecognition,and llingthe– once
stark– shop oorwithcolourandpa ern.Itwas
a lookthatcametotypifySwedishModernism.
A ertheoutbreakofwar,Frankwasforced
intoexileagain,thistime eeingtoManha an.
Whilethere,hetookinspirationfromthearray
ofmuseumsandhistoricbuildings.Heproduced
a vastcatalogueofdesignsthathegi edto
Ericsonforher50thbirthday,onceGermanyhad
surrenderedandhewassafetoreturntoSweden.
ItisthoughtthatonesuchdesignwasHawai,
which is still produced by Svenskt Tenn today.
