Note Begin at base. Foal is Swiss darned once square is knitted.
Cast on 45 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn B.
Rows 1 to 4 Knit.
Row 5 (RS) Knit.
Row 6 K3, P to last 3 sts, K3.
Rows 7 to 12 Repeat Rows 5 and 6 three times.
Join Yarn A.

SWISS DARNING
Often used as an alternative to
intarsia, Swiss darning is a lot
simpler than it first looks.
What’s more, you don’t have to
be an accomplished
embroiderer to achieve good
results. All you need to do is
work the same stitch shape on
top of the knitted one below.
While working make sure you
use a yarn the same thickness
as the knitted one below, and
maintain an even tension
throughout. If you pull your
yarn too tight your stitches
thin out and your Swiss darned
motif will start to look gappy.

detail and outlines to your
Swiss darned foal
