NEW CANON-FIT KIT

(^01) 3 Legged Thing Docz2
Mini tripod and monopod stabilizer in one!
£50/$TBA
http://www.3leggedthing.com
THE ORIGINAL Docz was a foot designed
to add extra stability to a monopod. The
new Docz2 has been made more versatile
as it can also double as a mini tripod. The
secret has been to swap the 3/8in-16
mounting point for a 1/4in-20 thread that
can screw into a Canon’s tripod mounting
point. An included 3/8in-16 adapter retains
compatibility with existing monopods,
while the 1/4in-20 mount now allows the
monopod leg from 3 Legged’s Leo, Punks
Brian, and Corey tripods to be fitted.
(^02) Canon RF-mount 400mm,
500mm and 600mm lenses
New super-tele RF-mount lenses coming
£TBA/$TBA
http://www.canon.co.uk
ACCORDING to leaked patents, Canon is
working on three super telephoto lenses
for its R-system, headlined by a new
version of its EF 500mm f/4L. Don’t get
too excited though, as a Canon RF 500mm
f/4L IS may not materialize until a pro
version of the Canon EOS R appears, on
par with an EOS-1D DSLR. Also in the
pipeline is rumoured to be an RF 400mm
f/2.8L and an RF 600mm f/4L IS USM.
(^03) Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2:1 Ultra
Macro APO
A macro lens that gets you closer
£TBA/$449
http://www.venuslens.net
LAOWA’S new macro lens is suitable for
full-frame Canons and has a 2:1 mag ratio.
Most macro lenses give 1:1 – life size

  • magnification, but this lens offers twice
that, allowing you to shoot tiny details. It’ll
also focus down to just 24.7cm, and can
focus at other distances to give a full range
    of magnifications.

(^04) Lowepro Photo Active
backpacks
Backpacks for capturing life off road
£150/$TBA
http://www.lowepro.com
DESIGNED for mirrorless gear, Lowepro’s
Photo Active backpacks come in two size
options: the BP 200 is sized to stash a
13-inch laptop, and up to a 15-inch laptop
will fit in the BP 300. Both models are
accessible on the go from both sides, and
feature Lowepro’s QuickShelf camera
divider insert which is easily removable
to turn the bag into a normal backpack.
Leave it in and you get a 50/50 gear split,
with camera gear in the lower half and
personal effects up top.
(^05) Nissin MG80 Pro
Nissin embraces Li-ion power
£TBA/$TBA
http://www.nissindigital.com
THE MG80 PRO is tricked out with
features like Canon E-TTL compatibility,
a built-in radio receiver for wireless flash
control, and an 8W LED modelling light.
Max power output is GN60, and Nissin
also quotes the output in watt-seconds

  • 83Ws. But the MG80’s biggest selling
point is it can be powered by regular AA
    rechargeable batteries and also Li-ion
14500 cells. Nissin claims the recycle time
is reduced from 3.8sec (NiMH) to just
    1.5sec (Li-ion).

(^06) Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di
VC OSD
Replace high quality primes with this...
£799/$799
http://www.tamron.eu
TAMRON claims its latest lens is a do-it-all
solution for portraiture and wedding
shoots, incorporating popular 85mm,
105mm and 135mm focal lengths, with the
flexibility to shoot as wide as 35mm for
group shots. Optical quality is said to rival
that of dedicated portrait primes, with a
trio of Low Dispersion glass elements
aligned with three hybrid aspherical
elements to deliver prime sharpness
and contrast across the focal range.
(^07) Stash Master 13L Travel Cube
Convert a regular pack into a camera bag
£TBA/$60
http://www.thinktankphoto.com
THIS is a padded insert designed to
convert a large backpack into a camera
backpack. There’s room inside for a
pro-size DSLR like a Canon EOS-1D X Mk II,
attached to a 70-200mm f/2.8, with room
for a 24-70mm f/2.8 and 16-35mm f/2.8.
High-density padding and reinforced
vertical dividers keep your gear protected,
while carry handles make it easy to
transport around.
