Cisco Firepower is a next-generation firewall (NGFW).
NGFWs are part of Cisco’s leading-edge firewall
technology, which combines the traditional firewall
functionality with an application firewall using an
intrusion prevention system (IPS) with deep packet
inspection (DPI) technology.

Firepower also employs other techniques, such as
Transport Layer Security/Secure Sockets Layer
