Snow
White purity composed of innumerable flakes
Each unique, but similar to every other.
In extreme, manifest as diamond dust.
Covering ground, outlining structures,
As it spotlights branches and trunk depressions
Drawing earthward evergreen boughs
With weighty mounds of still accumulations.
Seasons change and solidarity yields to fluidity.
Altered states flow downward to join others
In a rushing path of least resistance
To a seemingly inevitable conclusion.
Removing mire and even carving rock
With careening, abrasive debris
Till the flow finds sea or air
Or slows as marooned mud
That dries and crumbles to dirt.
