IN A WORLD DEFINED BY ACCELERATING CHANGE,

Micron Technology scored some major suc-
cesses in the past year. The Boise-based
designer and producer of memory and storage
solutions had a record fi scal 2018 across mul-
tiple markets. The company generated more
than $1 billion in revenue in automotive, nearly
doubled cloud revenue, and saw smartphone
business grow 60% year over year. Micron’s
president and CEO, Sanjay Mehrotra, says
the company’s potential for future growth is

built on the increasing importance the company
plays in computing solutions.
“Micron’s growth is driven by the value
hidden in the data we all create every day,”
says Mehrotra. Micron plays a central role in
unlocking that value. Data lives in memory and
storage, and Micron’s solutions make it possible
to analyze data more quickly and more ef-
fectively. The end results are already apparent:
safer automobiles, quicker and more accurate
medical devices, and data centers that harness
new technologies to enable smarter business
decisions.
With a company culture focused on tenac-
ity and innovation, Mehrotra says, Micron is
well positioned to drive bold new solutions for
customers around the world. First named to
the Fortune 500 list in 1994, the company has
grown steadily through technological innovation,
key partnerships, and strategic global acquisi-
tions. Today, Micron has more than 34,000
employees in 18 countries, and the company
offers a broad portfolio of memory and storage
solutions for multiple industries.
The biggest challenges facing Fortune 500
companies today involve the ever-increasing
rate of change, Mehrotra says. Embracing this
fast-paced transformation, Micron is using its
years of experience to help shape the future
of artifi cial intelligence (AI), 5G, and edge
intelligence. It is also applying this knowledge
to its own operations. One example: The
company uses AI in its manufacturing facilities
to improve quality, reduce downtime, and fi nd
new effi ciencies.
“We have a unique vantage point on the
capabilities of technology,” Mehrotra says,
noting that companies must continually reinvent
themselves based on a broad, bold vision built
upon customer collaboration.
As data increasingly becomes the cur-
rency of business, new uses will continue to
emerge—a trend that positions Micron to
achieve its company vision to transform the way
the world uses information to enrich life. ■
