animalsasthingsforourconvenience,andforthelastthirty
yearswehavebeenapplyingourlatestscientifictechniques
to make them serve our ends better. Genetic engineering,
revolutionaryasitmaybeinonesense,isinanothersense
justonemorewayofbendinganimalstoourpurposes.The
real need is that attitudes and practices change fundamentally.
