   Move the pointer over the upper-left corner bleed guide (the red guide off the edge of the
   artboard), and click to place the image.

   With the image selected, click the Image Trace button in the Properties panel to the right of the
   document, and choose Low Fidelity Photo. The tracing results you see may differ slightly from
   the figure, and that’s okay.

   
   

This converts the image into an image tracing object. That means you can’t edit the vector

content yet, but you can change the tracing settings or even the original placed image and then

see the updates.
