   Click in a blank area of the artboard to deselect.

   Move the Direct Selection pointer over the path between points 5 and 6. When the pointer
   changes ( ), click to select. Choose Edit > Cut.

   
   

This removes the selected segment between anchor points 5 and 6. Next, you’ll learn how to

connect the paths again.

Note

If the entire path disappears, choose Edit > Undo Cut, and try selecting the line segment

again.
