   Choose Select > Deselect.

   Click Edit Toolbar ( ) at the bottom of the Tools panel. Scroll in the menu that appears, and
   drag the Join tool ( ) onto the Pencil tool ( ) in the Tools panel on the left to add it to the
   list of tools.
