A positive IgG and negative IgM is consistent with maternal immunity so the
fetus is protected.
A positive IgM antibody is consistent with acute infection and should initiate
obstetric ultrasound assessment starting at 22 weeks, looking for evidence of
fetal hydrops as well as fetal Doppler screening for anemia.
