GAMBIR, PALE CATECHU (Uncaria gambir (W. Hunter) Roxb.) +

Synonyms — Nauclea gambir W. Hunter, Ourouparia gambir (W. Hunter) Baill.
Some GMH data apply more appropriately to Acacia catechu; both are colloquially called catechu,
or Uncaria pale catechu. The tanniniferous resins of the two are used interchangeably, thanks to
their high tannin content.
