Travel to some portions of
Mindanao, in the Southern
Philippines, should therefore be
avoided. In particular: Sulu
archipelago, Basilan, Lanao del
Sur/Norte, North Cotabato,

Visitors should also use common
sense: don’t get involved with drugs
or drinking or go places you are
unfamiliar with late at night. Do not
argue or criticize and avoid public
scenes. If needed, the emergency
number is 117.
Money- The Philippine currency is
the Philippine Peso (PHP). It is
divided up in 100 Centavos. The US
Dollar is the most recognized
foreign currency and can be used
for some transactions. Upon
internationally arriving in Manila,
the airport offers foreign exchange
counters. Banks are open from 9
am- 3 p.m., M-F 5 days-a-week.
