Jim’s Story in His Own Words
I am 60 years old, and I recently suffered a heart attack. I never
followed any particular diet. After my diagnosis, I was advised by both my
cardiologist and nutritionist to follow a low-fat/low-cholesterol diet. I
started to eat cereal for breakfast every day, and my wife started to cook
with tub margarine and other refined vegetable oils. I avoided eggs, shrimp,
and cheese. My wife and I started to buy only low-fat products, like salad
dressings and crackers. My cardiologist recently increased the dosage of my
