healthy? If you hate yourself, ask yourself why. Confront your inner critic. Go to
therapy if necessary, because it’s definitely worth the money.
Analyze why you have such low self-esteem. Silence your inner critic, who
puts you down all the time. Would you let anyone else hurt you like that? So
why would you do it to yourself? Love yourself and your body even if you are
overweight. Treat your body well. Give yourself permission to live and make
changes in your life beyond dieting so you can enjoy life now and every single
day. You have to live a happy life, and you have to eat just to live, and not live to
eat. Treat poor dietary habits just like any other addiction, such as drugs or
gambling. You deserve the best in life, and nothing less.
Don’t give yourself excuses, or tell yourself that cheating “just once” won’t
hurt. Breaking the rules will lead you to nowhere but poor health. Did you know
that just thinking about food can actually trigger the hormones that stimulate
your appetite? Your goal is to change the way you think about food. Eat on a
predictable schedule—3 meals a day, and that’s it. I eat at 7 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7
p.m., and then I forget about food the rest of the time unless I’m really hungry or
find myself at a gathering with food. In those cases, I have a snack.
Think twice before you put anything in your body that you think is bad for
your hormones and health. If you are used to putting something fattening in your
mouth out of boredom or to get relief instead of engaging in a nonfood activity
to calm yourself, make a switch to do something that’s good for you! Take the
dog for a walk, or start knitting. I don’t care what it is, as long as it isn’t
dangerous or bad for you, and it takes your mind off food.
You should stick to the Perfect 10 Diet all the time, and especially on
weekends. Why? Because we tend to consume more calories and alcohol Friday
through Sunday than during the rest of the week, and this can easily add on
pounds. The Perfect 10 Diet is a 7 days a week diet. In summary, stop putting off
your health goals or saying I will start next week, next month, or next year. Life
is too short to put any resolution off, especially when it comes to your health. It’s
time for you to be a perfect 10 in health right now.
Of course, I don’t expect you to change overnight. Start slow. First, change
your shopping habits. Try making sure you’ve got 10 items or less in your cart at
the supermarket. Anytime you start going crazy in the supermarket, ask yourself
why you need such a big shopping cart.

no tomorrow.
