women) or testosterone (in men and women), DHEA, or HGH.
• Do your genitals (penis or clitoris) seem less sensitive? You may have a
testosterone problem (men and women).
• For men, are your erections not firm enough? You may have a problem in
testosterone, cortisol, or both.
Skin
• If you have age spots, you may be deficient in HGH, DHEA, or both.
• If you have wrinkles around your eyes (crow’s feet), your sex hormones
may be low.
• If you have deep wrinkles on your face (especially falling cheeks), you
may be HGH deficient.
Sleep
• If you have trouble falling asleep, you may have too much cortisol
shutting down your production of melatonin, the sleep hormone.
• If you don’t dream a lot, you may have HGH deficiency.
If you suspect a deficiency or an excess in one or many of your hormones, see
your physician and ask him to check the levels.
Insulin
Insulin should improve on the Perfect 10 Diet as you start to eat more natural
fats and eliminate bad carbs. But if you can’t skip a snack, or you feel dizzy if
you don’t eat every 2 or 3 hours, suspect an insulin problem. Ask your doctor to
check your fasting insulin level, which means no eating for at least 9 hours. Note
the result.
Check your level in the morning, right after an overnight fast. A fasting
insulin level should be 5 units or lower. A higher level, which is very common in
the United States, may indicate that you are suffering some degree of
hyperinsulinemia. Two-thirds of Americans have it, and that’s why many of us
have a hard time losing weight. Are you one of them?
Ignore the normal lab reference range (up to 20) since it refers to the average
American who has high levels to begin with, considering the massive amount of
sugar and refined carbohydrates we eat in this country. If your insulin levels are
high, you will have a hard time losing weight. Following the Perfect 10 Diet is a
good way to start, but you may need additional help to get your insulin level
