A Nation in Hormonal Chaos
When I look around, I don’t see the obesity or the diabetes epidemic as others
see it, as a problem of too much food and too little exercise, or calories in and
calories out. It is too simplistic; that’s not the whole story. I look deeper to the
root of the problem, and what I see is a nation in hormonal chaos. It becomes
very clear to me why many diseases are so prevalent today in our society.
• 75 percent of all Americans are overweight
• 25 million Americans have diabetes
• 60 million Americans have prediabetes
• 25 million Americans have an underactive thyroid
• 13 million American men have a low testosterone level
• 5 to 26 percent of women in their reproductive years suffer from
polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition of insulin resistance
together with a high testosterone level, which can result in infertility

And the list goes on and on. I know some of you may be saying, “But I don’t
have diabetes, a thyroid problem, or irregular periods, Doctor! What do all these
hormonal problems have to do with me? I just need to lose weight.” The answer

not just put a Band-Aid on our serious health issues. Obesity is a condition of
hormonal imbalance, and by balancing your hormones, the Perfect 10 Diet will
fix your obesity as well as the other problems that your hormonal imbalance is
causing. I think you’re beginning to see how beneficial this diet is for you.

of us simply eat too much. Calories still count to a certain degree. Portion sizes
have increased by 20 percent in the last three decades, both at home and in
restaurants.
The answer to the obesity problem is not simple. Genes, hormonal
imbalances, and even viruses are now acknowledged to play a role. Scientists
suspect that there are lots of fat genes. Some of us simply have more fat cells
than others, and the range is huge. Stress and a lack of sleep, as I mentioned
earlier, fatten you up, too. But obesity in America has a lot to do with our
modern diet and its relationship to hormonal imbalances.
I don’t have all the answers for the obesity problem, but if you have the fat
