Not quite long after we moved from Ikorodu to settle in that
managed apartment in 1990, we started the plans for our wedding.
The marriage finally held on October 5, 1991. It was done in the
village and incidentally, it was the same day the village started her
day. (Ido-Ekiti Day).
After the wedding, precisely the year 1992, we got our first car and
gave birth to our second child. In that same year, we also changed
our apartment and also got a land. The marriage indeed was
blessed owing to all that followed thereafter. No wonder the bible
says “whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth
favour of the Lord” – Prov. 18:22.
EVENTS THEREAFTER (AFTER MARRIAGE)
Things had been okay until May 2, 1993. We had traveled home the
previous Friday, April 30th for my brother-in-law's wedding. The
wedding was May 1st (when my son was a year old). We were
returning from a journey of about four hours back to Lagos the
following Sunday; May 2nd. We had just gotten to the long bridge
leading to Berger when we experienced a slight hitch. I had barely
changed to gear two when the accident occurred. Up till now, none
of us in the car can account for what happened except for those
who witnessed the scene.
