NOT YOUR MOTHER’S CHOIR
When’s the last time you had an authentic, soul-shaking, cultural experience? Mm-hmm, we didn’t think so. Enter the Creole Choir
of Cuba, a world-renowned, Grammy-nominated group of 10 talented vocalists. Since 1994, the choir has been singing the sweet
harmonies of their migrant Haitian ancestors, but they manage to give the songs of their past a face li. For one thing, Afro-
Caribbean percussionists accompany the melodies of the choir. San Diego is one of 21 cities to host the group, now embarking
on their fi rst-ever U.S. tour. You have only one night to catch them here in concert, November 1 at Mandeville Auditorium on the
UCSD campus. artpwr.com // ANNALISA MINETTO
