Las ferias indígenas también son un atractivo para los turistas. La
Reserva Ecológica Illinizas, las Lagunas de Limpiopungo, del Volcán
Quilotoa y hacia el Oriente el Parque Nacional Llanganates. Otro
atractivo turístico son las hermosas haciendas antiguas ubicadas
en la zona y que trasladan a los visitantes hacia el pasado del país.
Hacia el Sur de Quito se encuentra el Parque Nacional Cotopaxi,
una amplia área verde 34000 hectáreas de llanuras, ubicada en las
faldas del volcán activo más alto del mundo (5897 metros sobre el
nivel del mar). Si usted vino por tierra desde Quito, habrá admirado
una elevación hemisférica a su izquierda. Es El Callo, una auténtica
burbuja volcánica que alberga, a sus pies, el último templo lujoso
de los incas hacia el norte de su imperio. Visítelo pues ahí podrá
constatar que los incas juntaban tan perfectamente sus piedras
que no pasa entre ellas una hoja de afeitar. Es más: puede dormir
