TUNGURAHUA
En la provincia del Tungurahua la tibieza de su clima le ha
permitido que prosperen hermosos huertos frutales, típicos de
esta región. Ambato, su capital, se encuentra en la zona central
del país, en el callejón andino, denominada como la “Tierra de las
flores y las frutas” es una ciudad de febril actividad comercial, allí
acuden todas las productivas comunas a vender sus productos
agrícolas como sus sabrosas frutas, artesanales como los de
cuero de Quisapincha o tapices de los Salasacas e industriales,
el día lunes es el más importante para la feria comercial de esta
ciudad. También se la conoce como la Tierra de los “Tres Juanes”:
Juan Montalvo, Juan León Mera y Juan Benigno Vela, insignes
caballeros que nacieron en su suelo y se han perennizado a través
de la historia por su valor patriótico.La Fiesta de las Flores y las Frutas es una de las más reconocidas
a nivel nacional, se magnifica la productividad de su tierra y el
empeño que ponen sus habitantes para explotar este regalo,
desde el atrio de La Catedral los sacerdotes bendicen los frutos y
las flores que se producen. Turistas de todo el país disfrutan de los
desfiles, carros alegóricos, feria taurina, la belleza de sus reinas y en
general la gentileza de su gente.Existen numerosos sitios de interés turístico en Ambato: Museo de
la Casa de Juan Montalvo, Museo de la Primera Imprenta, Quinta
de Juan León Mera, Quinta de Juan Montalvo, Eco Zoológico
San Martín, Jardín Botánico La Liria, entre tantos otros; y en la
Provincia: Baños, La Cascada de Jun-Jun, los Pogyos, las Lagunas
de Llullugcha y Malenda, la Cascada de Mundug, las Lagunas de
Pisayambo, el Parque Nacional Llanganates, etc.La gastronomía de la zona es variada, se destacan los llapingachos

Jun-Jun Waterfall, the Pogyos, the Llullugcha and Malenda lagoons,
the Mundug Waterfall, the Pisayambo lagoons and the National Park
Llanganates, etc.The cuisine in the zone has a great variety. The main dishes are
llapingachos (potatoe tortillas with sausages), roasted guinea pig
with potatoes, roasted chicken, Pinllo bread, alfeñiques, nogadas,
melcochas, marmelades, etc. These are alle delicacies for the palate of
those who visit Ambato and the Province of Tungurahua.
