$30) is probably the best in the region and the

(mains $10) including burgers and BBQ ribs and
live music and dancing Monday night.

A kitschy, upbeat and comfortable mountain
motel with 1950s-style decor and mini-
kitchenettes (owned and run by Kate Pierson
of B-52s fame). Plus, there’s an outside fire pit
for toasting marshmallows while gazing across
babbling Esopus Creek.

Less than a mile west of town, this classic
and affordable roadside motel has simple and
unpretentious rooms with wood-paneling and
a touch of mid-century modern decor. Groups
should try a cottage or suite.

minded eclectically furnished Tannersville
institution has an overstuffed counter displaying
gourmet cheeses, chocolates, candies and 300
varieties of beer. The menu runs the gamut from
big salads to lasagna to steaks and hearty chili,
not to mention fondue and s’mores. Live music
Friday and Saturday nights.

lot of the middle school across the street, the
Mountain Brook, which is set on a hill with
forested mountain views, would evoke an
Adirondack ‘great camp.’ Rooms are furnished
in stylistically rustic decor with luxurious
bedding and breakfast is a gourmet feast. With
a sofa in front of a fireplace, room 7, on the 2nd
floor of the main cabin, is especially cozy.

vivid yellow and blue facade and flamboyant
window art.
