Evelyn Lois (Teske)
Stanton) Boyer, age 81,
passed away May 15, 2021
at Sparrow Hospital in Ionia.
Evelyn was born to Lloyd
and Helen (Newman) Teske
on February 10, 1940.
Evelyn worked various jobs
during her lifetime, owned
and operated Jack’s Place in
Caledonia Township for 35
years, was a home health
aide for several years until
her retirement in 2011.
Evelyn had a huge heart
and loved caring for people,
but especially loved all
animals - cats, dogs, and
people of need list a good
friend with the passing of
Evelyn Lois Boyer.
Evelyn was preceded in
death by her parents; sisters,
Margaret (Pete) Dull and
Doris (Carol) Graball;
brother, Lloyd Teske; best
friend and soul mate, Bobby
Biggs.
She is survived by her
brother, Robert (Carol)
Teske and several nieces
and nephews.
There will be no services
and cremation has taken
place per her wishes. If you
would like to give an act of
kindness, please consider a
donation to the Kent County
Animal Shelter in Evelyn’s
honor.

Juanita (Nita) Mae Acker,
age 71, of Delton, died
Sunday, May 30, 2021 at
home with her family.
Juanita (Nita) Mae Acker
was born on March 5, 1950
in Plainwell, the daughter of
Doris and Harry Vickery.
She was raised in Delton and
attended Delton Kellogg
Schools.
She was married to John
Jay Acker, Sr. on April 3,
1965 at Delton Baptist
Church. She was employed
at Kmart in Hastings until
the closing of the store.
She was a loving wife, and
mother of three children –
Cindy Lou Iles married to
Mark Iles, John Jay Acker,
Jr. married to Judy Acker
and Sheri Wenger married to
Martin Wenger.
She was a farmer for many
years with her family.
Nita enjoyed her many
grandchildren, being at the
“big lake.” She supported
her children in all things big
and small. She was a true
faithful servant of the Lord.
Her family was her
biggest legacy and she was
the glue and the teacher of
the family.
She is survived by
brothers, Paul, Chip; sisters,
Janis, Norma, Karen.
She was preceded in death
by Harry and Doris Vickery;
brothers, Allen, Phillip and
Ralph Vickery.
Services will be held
Saturday, June 12, 2021, at
11 a.m. at Thornapple Valley
Church, Hastings campus.
Luncheon to follow.
Memorial contributions
may be made to Thornapple
Valley Church, which she
loved with all her heart.

Two Caledonia juniors to serve
as regional FFA officers

Two Caledonia FFA
members have been elected
regional officers for Region
V, which covers 12 counties
in West-Central Michigan.
Kendra Lloyd, will serve as
Region V president, and
Jonah Hilton, will serve as
Region V reporter.
As a member of Caledonia
FFA, Lloyd served as chapter
vice president in 2020-21,
and also will serve as chapter
vice president in 2021-22.
She is involved in the
Caledonia Equestrian Team
that won the state
championship in 2020, is in
4-H, and shows at the Kent
County Youth Fair, and has
participated in other
community service projects.
Lloyd received the Charlie
Crissman Outstanding Junior
Award this year, as well as
Region V Leadership Award,
had the most cheese sales,
and received a gold award at
regional competition for
three years in parliamentary
procedure.
“I want to make a
difference and be there for
everyone as much as I can
be,” Lloyd said. “My hope is
that we can modify the events
we usually do year-round
and get everyone involved.
My goal is to reach out to the
chapters and reconnect in
some way, whether it’s
virtually or at one of their
local FFA events. I hope that
my knowledge of leadership
can help others and encourage
them to be a better leader.”
Hilton served as chapter
Caledonia FFA Chapter
president in the 2020-
school year, and will remain
the president for the 2021-
school year.
He is involved in National
Honor Society, shows beef
steers around the state, is
involved in 4-H, and shows
beef and swine at the Barry
County Fair. He also has
volunteered his time for
community service.
Hilton received the Star in
Agricultural Production
Award this year, as well as
Outstanding Junior and
Academic Excellence. He
also received a gold award at
regional competition for
three years.
“As a regional officer, I
would like to influence the
people around me to get
involved in their chapter,
school and community,”
Hilton said. “I hope to
support members and try to
encourage them to become
better leaders.”
Both Lloyd and Hilton
will attend the State
Leadership Conference for
Regional Officers this
summer to help boost their
leadership, teamwork and
public speaking skills.
Regional officers and four
other members officially
took office May 18.

Chris opened the May 24
meeting with pledges, fol-
lowed by roll call and the
secretary’s report.
Chris read the new mem-
bership application and
renewal forms. Some chang-
es were made.
The group discussed how
to resist overdoing it over the
holiday, as well as health
issues within the club.
Members will be going to
Brann’s in Caledonia June 14
to give KOPS Betty a sendoff
as she moves and will be
leaving the club after 29
years.
Helen won the Ha-Ha box.
Two fish jumped out of the
fishbowl.
The meeting ended with
the KOPS and TOPS pledg-
es.
TOPS, a weight loss group
meets every Monday at
Lincoln Meadows in
Middleville. (Press ‘Apt.
205’ for entrance.) Weigh-in
is from 4 to 4:15 p.m.; meet-
ings begin at 4:15. A mask
must be worn when in the
building. Social distancing is
practiced.
