MA XIMIZING
THE POWER
OF HEMP
JOSH ZWAGIL RECALLS
setting up the obligatory
lemonade stand as a young
boy and devising rudimentary
business plans. “I’ve had an
entrepreneurial spirit from an
early age,” he says. But not
in his wildest youthful dreams
did Zwagil imagine growing
up to be at the forefront of
the CBD phenomenon as
the cofounder and CEO of
HempWorx.
CBD—shorthand for
cannabidiol—is a substance
derived from the hemp plant,
marijuana’s nonpsychoactive
sibling. Hemp has a long his-
tory in the U.S., dating back
to the Colonial days when
farmers-turned–Founding
Fathers George Washington
and Thomas Jefferson grew
the leafy cannabis sativa
variety. Fiber from its long
stalks was used to make
rope, textiles, paper, and
other essentials. Betsy Ross
stitched together the original
American fl ag using hemp.
However, when marijuana
was demonized and feder-
ally outlawed in the 1930s,
hemp was banned too. While
marijuana has gradually
emerged from its criminal
status over the past 20 years,
hemp scored a big win with
the signing of the 2018 Farm
Bill. CBD oil and seeds were
already being used in a
variety of health and wellness
products, fueling a burgeon-
ing $1.1 billion market, and
the newly legitimized industry
is poised to skyrocket.
Zwagil, in the meantime,
had tapped into his business
acumen and launched a
network marketing company,
called MyDailyChoice, based
in Las Vegas. It drew the
attention of Jenna, a single
mom and Army veteran
in search of a meaning-
ful career. She and Zwagil
ultimately teamed up—not
only in business but also in
marriage.
As they were getting their
partnership off the ground,
Jenna began experiencing
physical challenges and was
in search of support. “I got
my medical marijuana card
and started experimenting
with CBD oil,” she says. After
fi nding comfort with CBD
sourced from hemp, “my life
was transformed,” Jenna
says.
She convinced Josh
of the power of CBD, and
HempWorx was born. The
startup company sells ingest-
ible oils, coffee and creamer,
skin creams, and even dog
treats, all containing CBD
from American-grown hemp.
Like its parent company
MyDailyChoice, HempWorx
offers a network marketing
affi liate program. Affi liates
are provided with turnkey
marketing tools, support ser-
vices, and several different
compensation plans.
“Thanks to Jenna, we’ve
created an incredible move-
ment in the CBD industry,”
Josh says. “We’re both
working toward a common
goal,” Jenna adds. “We are
impacting the world, and we
get to see it together through
our daily lives.” ●
