CHAPTER SUMMARY
Sympathetic listening is a wonderful parental activity for several
reasons. First, it’s a really nice thing to do for your kids. Second, it
makes you a safe haven for your children—someone they’ll want to
turn to when they’re upset. And finally, good listening skills on your
part mean that you will stay in touch with your kids’ thoughts and
feelings. Adolescence is not far off!
