Clamp an end piece in a bench vise
or clamp it to your workbench
with a scrap piece of wood
underneath and using a 1” auger
bit drill for the handle holes in
both end pieces.

Finally, we get to start putting our project together! The first part to put
together is the bottom piece to an end piece. Since the bottom piece is
long it can be awkward to work with. A solution is to clamp it to the
edge of your workbench so that the end barely sticks up above the
surface. With this method your hands
arefreetoholdtheendpieceflatonthe
workbench and nail it. If this doesn’t
work with the bench you’re using, that’s
ok. Have your Mom or Dad to hold the
bottom piece on edge while you nail the
end piece to it. Whichever method you
try,spreadabeadofglueontheedgeof
thebottompiecebeforeyounailittothe
endpiece. Putaboutfour4dnailsin
each end piece.
