Wellness program (also see health promotion
program): Any prevention initiative aimed at
changing lifestyle behaviors associated with greater
risk of disease. These initiatives actively encourage
healthy activities such as substance abuse control,
weight management, smoking cessation, stress
management, physical activity, or the like.
Work cutback: Occurs when an employee is
required to cutback their regular working hours
to accommodate a personal or familial health
problem.
Work loss: Time away from a job or an inability
to perform normal work activities because of a
health problem.
Workplace burden: Any type of economic
burden (in this case related to health or
healthcare) which affects a company, not
including direct healthcare costs. Examples
include costs associated with employee turnover,
lost productivity, and work cutback.
