1. Provide an adequate barrier to the penetration of the
elements.
- Maintain the internal environment by providing an adequate
resistance to heat loss.
A roof is in a very exposed situation and must therefore be
designed and constructed in such a manner as to:-
1. Safely resist all imposed loadings such as snow and wind.
- Be capable of accommodating thermal and moisture
movements. - Be durable so as to give a satisfactory performance and
reduce maintenance to a minimum.
