The beauty of crafting salads is that there are no rules!
Throw together as many veggies as you can and drench
them with olive oil, which will increase the absorption of
their many nutrients (including carotenoids, which can boost
brain-processing speed). The key is to aim for one huge
salad daily, and there is plenty of room for healthy variety.


What’s the Deal with Dairy?


Seventy-five percent of the global adult population is
believed to be lactose intolerant, and Harvard’s School of
Public Health has recently banned dairy from its “Healthy
Eating Plate.” So what gives?
Milk protein is on par with white bread in terms of
insulin stimulation, and from an evolutionary sense this is
likely as a means of helping a newborn pack on weight. But
bovine milk proteins specifically metabolize into morphine-
like compounds called casomorphins, which seem to have
an inflammatory effect on the gut. They’ve also been shown
to interact with neurotransmitters and have been linked with
headaches, delayed psychomotor development, autism, and


type 1 diabetes.^3
The direct effect that this has on the average brain has
yet to be borne out in the literature, but there is one other
