  1. DOMINO MULTIPLICATION


We have received the following entertaining puzzle from W. D. W., of
Philadelphia, Pa.:
Four dominoes may be so placed as to form a simple multiplication sum if
we regard the pips as figures. The example here shown will make everything
perfectly clear. Now, the puzzle is, using all the twenty-eight dominoes to ar-
range them so as to form seven such little sums in multiplication.

It will be found comparatively easy to construct six such groups, while the
four dominoes left over are impossible of arrangement. But it can be done, and
the quest will be found amusing. No blank may be placed at the left end of
the multiplicand or product.
