The illustration shows the simplest, and I think the prettiest, solution in
six pieces. Move piece A up a step on B and you have the original piece
12 X 12. Move C up a step on D and the two pieces will join E and form the
square 15 X 15. The piece 16 X 16 is not cut.

- THE SQUARES OF VENEER
The sides of the two squares must be 24 in. and 7 in., respectively. Make the
cuts as in the first diagram and the pieces A, B, and C will form a perfect
square as in the second diagram. The square D is cut out intact.
