3 Keeping both hips squared, engage the back of the right leg and start to extend it
straight up and back behind you. Rotate the inner thigh toward the sky, press the
thumbs to the floor, and keep a steady gaze.
When it comes to hand balances and inversions, be patient and focus on one step at
a time. The first step to mastering an advanced position is deciding to give it a try,
but don’t rush the process. Focus on the path, not the destination! Advanced poses
are fun and challenging, but they are not the purpose of our practice. Focus on your
breath and pause wherever it feels right to you. Most arm balances and inversions
require lots of time and practice, so listen to your body, go easy, and remember to
come right back up with a smile every time you fall.
