1 Come to a comfortable seated position. Place the left shinbone so that it’s parallel
to the edge of your mat, and then place the right ankle on top of the left knee and the
right knee on top of the left ankle. You want the shins to stack on top of each other.
Depending on your hips this may or may not be comfortable. If the top knee ends up
very high above the ankle, fold up a blanket and place under the knee for support or
come into the softer variation of Sukhasana (see below). The more the shinbones line
up with the top of the mat, the deeper the stretch for the hips. Flex both your feet and
press the inner border of the feet away from the body.
