Morphology,lifecycle,andepidemiology(Fig. 1 0. 15 ).OnlyStrongyloides
femalesareparasitic.Theyare 2 – 3 mmlongandliveinthesmallintestine
epithelium,wheretheyproducetheireggsbyparthenogenesis.Duringthe
intestinalpassagefirst-stagelarvae(0.2–0.3mmlong)hatchfromtheeggs
andareshedinstool(whereaseggsareshedinS.fuelleborniinfections).
Withinafewdaysfirst-stagelarvaedevelopintoinfectivethird-stagelarvae.
