Under these conditions, radon levels on upper floors have
been observed to equal or, in a few cases, even surpass
basement level radon concentrations.
It should be noted that the statewide study was designed
to locate areas of potential radon problems and hence the
area sampling density was varied depending on anticipated
results. Approximately 20% of the total number of samples
were set aside for use later in the sampling period to better
define potential problem areas identified in the initial sam-
pling. Hence, the sampling is somewhat biased in terms of
