iguring out how to use your AirPods isn’t the eas-
iest thing; there’s no display and no buttons or
dials, either. We’re here to help with this collection
of tips designed to help you use Apple’s wireless
earbuds to their full capacity.
PAIR YOUR AIRPODS TO AN
IPHONE & APPLE WATCH
- Make sure you are signed into your
iCloud account on your iPhone. - Navigate to the Home screen on your
iPhone, then bring the AirPods close to
your phone; they should be in their case,
with the case open. - A screen asking if you’d like to connect
your AirPods to your iPhone will appear; tap Connect,
then tap Done to complete pairing your AirPods to your
iPhone (any Apple Watch connected to your phone will
automatically pair with your AirPods too).
NOTE FOR SECOND-GENERATION AIRPODS:
- Apple’s latest AirPods come with support for hands-free
Siri. If you’ve already set up “Hey Siri” on your iPhone,
then you’ll automatically be able to use this feature with
your AirPods. If you haven’t, instructions will appear on
your phone.

HOW TO CHECK
YOUR AIRPODS’
CHARGE STATUS
You can ask Siri, “Hey Siri,
what’s the battery level on
my AirPods?” You can also
check the charge status of
your AirPods and their case
manually. To do this:
- Your AirPods must be
connected to the device
you’re using to check their
charge status. - Open your AirPods case
with your AirPods inside;
hold the open case near
your iOS device. - The battery levels of
both your AirPods and
their charging case will
appear on screen.
