‘Coffee and

Conversation’

with State Rep.

Haadsma

returns to

Calhoun County
State Representative for
the 62nd District Jim
Haadsma (D-Battle Creek) is
warming up the coffee pot
again. Haadsma is pleased to
announce the return of in-per-
son coffee hours.
“Now that it is safer to
meet in person due
to increased vaccination rates,
I will begin holding coffee
hours again,” Haadsma said.
“I’m looking forward to
speaking to folks in the com-
munity to hear the issues that
are important to you. I hope to
see you there!”
Coffee hours will be held
on the first Saturday of the
month at the following times
and locations:
*9-11 a.m. at Mr. Don’s
Restaurant, 341 N. 20th St.,

    out the county. Charitable

Union will be visiting Albion,
Harper Creek, Homer, and
Marshall in addition to our
Battle Creek events.
Charitable Union CEO,
Teresa Allen said “Things
will look a bit different this
year, compared to years
past.”
“Our Battle Creek events
will be by appointment only,
so we can limit the number of
individuals shopping. We are
not able to offer personal
shoppers to assist families,
instead our volunteers will be
stationed throughout the
stores to answer questions,”
Allen said. Families who
wish to make an appointment
can call the office at (269)
964-7234.
Who can participate in
these events? Families living
in Calhoun County, with chil-
dren in grades Kindergarten
through 12, who have an
active Bridge/Medicaid/WIC
card. Parents will need to
bring photo id and their
Bridge/Medicaid/WIC card
to the event.
Would you like to volun-
teer? These events stretch the
limited staff and many of the
volunteers who are preparing
for back to school them-
selves. If you are available to
help in August, you can email
Tammy@CharitableUnion.
org or call (269) 964-7234 to
sign up. “Many hands make
light work,” said Tammy
Jimenez, volunteer coordina-
tor.
