35 The wife of Imran said, “My Lord, Ihave vowed to You what is in mywomb, dedicated, so accept fromme; You are the Hearer andKnower.”٣٦

ويَمَ رْا مَ هَ

ي مِ ٱلش
ِ
جٱ ل ر َّ
36 And when she delivered her, shesaid, “My Lord, I have delivered afemale,” and Allah was well aware ofwhat she has delivered, “and themale is not like the female, and Ihave named her Mary, and havecommended her and herdescendants to Your protection,from Satan the outcast.”ا ٣٧

ن يَشمَ
37 Her Lord accepted her with agracious reception, and brought hera beautiful upbringing, and entrustedher to the care of Zechariah.Whenever Zechariah entered uponher in the sanctuary, he found herwith provision. He said, “O Mary,where did you get this from?” Shesaid, “It is from Allah; Allah providesto whom He wills without reckoning.”٣٨

38 Thereupon Zechariah prayed tohis Lord; he said, “My Lord, bestowon me good offspring from Yourpresence; You are the Hearer ofPrayers.”٣٩

نورًا وَ

حَ صا وَ

ينحِ ِل
ٰ
ٱلص َّ
39 Then the angels called out to him,as he stood praying in the sanctuary:“Allah gives you good news of John;confirming a Word from Allah, andhonorable, and moral, and aprophet; one of the upright.”٤٠

ا مَ ٱلل

يَ ف

ا

يَ ش
40 He said, “My Lord, how will I havea son, when old age has overtakenme, and my wife is barren?” He said,“Even so, Allah does whatever Hewills.”
