ThelackofOIShurtsa little– camera
shakeis evidentin a fewofmyshots,
especiallywithfastermovingsubjects,
butfewotherphonesattheprice
deliverOISanyway.
It’sin lowlightthatthereduced
stabilizationandpresumablysmaller
sensorbegintocauseproblems.In dim
eveninglightperformanceis acceptable,
droppingofftounusableasit gets
dark.Thereis a nightmode,butthe
EISdoesn’tprovideenoughstability
tomakeit worthwhile.Shotsendup
brighter,butsonoisyandblurrythat the
trade-offrarelymakessense.
Theultra-wideis alsogoodin bright
light,solongasyoudon’tlooktoo
close– there’sa bitlessdetailthan the
maincamera,especiallyin shadows,
butnothingtoounpalatable.In low
lightthewide-anglestrugglesmuch
more,andevennightmodecan’t
improvethings– avoidthiscamera
whenit getsdark.
Finally,the 16Mp selfie shootertells
asimilarstory. There’ssufficientdetail,
andcolourslookbrightandattractive,
butin dimmerlighta lotofnoise
creepsinto photos.
