Do the three “good mornings” again, this time paying close
attention to the signals your voice is sending.
Closed: “Good morning.” Sounds like, “Get out of here. Go away.”
Neutral: “Good morning.” Sounds like, “I wish I were some-
where else.”
The neutral face “good morning” says, “Go away. I have more
important things to do than talk to you.”
Saying “good morning” with a closed face sounds like “I’m hav-
ing a rotten day. Keep your distance.”
