or “comes upon.” He’s the One Who anoints you
with power for service. Every time you find Him
described in both the Old and New Testaments,
He always “comes upon.”
The Spirit of the Lord gives you boldness and
the sense of dominion. He puts you in charge of
situations. This was what the prophets of old
needed whenever they stood to declare God’s
Word before kings whom they would ordinarily
have been afraid of. Whenever they needed
boldness to dominate their circumstances or to
speak God’s Word without fear or timidity, the
Spirit of the Lord came upon them and empowered
them.
Often, you’ll read concerning the prophets,
“And the Spirit of the Lord was upon him.” That
was the Spirit of Lordship in operation. He took
charge and the one before whom they stood could
do nothing against them.
