(^304) Since the same or at least a very similar expression in Daniel 10:17 does not imply
actual death, it would be rash to assert that the child was really dead. This is well
pointed out by Kimchi. Similarly, Josephus has it that the child only seemed dead (was
"as one dead," in New Testament language). The circumstance that his mother still
carried him in her bosom seems to imply the same.
