he drawings that accompany Appendix C are included
in the drawing packet that accompanies this textbook.
These drawings are used for selected review questions.

OUTLINE SPECIFICATIONS


Section 1—Excavation


Topsoil excavation shall be carried 5 feet beyond all walls.
Excavations shall be carried to the depths shown on the
drawings.
All excess earth, not needed for fill, shall be removed
from the premises.
Existing grade is 104.2¿.

Section 2—Concrete


Concrete for footings shall develop a compressive
strength of 3,000 psi in 28 days.
All other concrete shall develop a compressive strength
of 2,500 psi in 28 days unless otherwise specified.
Reinforcing bars shall be A-15 Intermediate Grade.
Reinforcing mesh shall be 4  48 ⁄ 8 welded wire mesh.
Vapor barrier shall be 6-mil polyethylene.
Expansion joint filler shall be 1/2-inch 4-inch asphalt-
impregnated fiberboard.
Concrete lintels shall be precast, 5,000 psi in 28 days.

Section 3—Masonry


Concrete masonry units shall be 16 inches in length.
Masonry wall reinforcement shall be ladder design and
installed every third course.
Stone shall be bluestone with stone thickness 3/4 to
2 inches. All mortar joints are 3/8 inches thick.
Exterior window sills shall be bluestone, 1^1 ⁄ 4 inches thick,
slip-in type.

Section 4—Structural


Complete structural system as indicated on the drawings.
All required holes in the roof deck to be made by roof
deck installer.
Furnish all required accessories as indicated on the
drawings.
Furnish and install in compliance with all manufacturers’
specifications.

Section 5—Door Frames, Doors, and Windows


Door frames 16-gauge steel.
Doors shall be flush, solid core, five-ply construction
with a rotary birch veneer.
Prefinish interior doors with semigloss lacquer and
exterior doors with polyurethane varnish.
Allow $500 for the purchase of hardware.
Install hardware in accordance with the manufacturer’s
specifications.
Windows shall be custom made, 1/8-inch-thick alu-
minum, 2-inch 4-inch frames, glazing materials as
indicated on the drawings.

Section 6—Roofing


Roofing shall be five-ply, 20-year bond.
Cant strips shall be asphalt-impregnated fiberboard.
Insulation shall be rigid, perlite.
Slag surface (400 lbs. per square).

Section 7—Finishes


All exposed exterior masonry finishes shall receive two
coats of silicone spray.
All exposed interior finishes of drywall shall receive two
coats of an approved oil base paint.
