Posture Carving
THESE PENCIL STUDIES, also taken from my Madrid drawing book (see pp.170—71), are copies
of works by Goya in which he makes air seem heavier than flesh, and visible, and tangible,as it rushes and carves fabric-wrapped forms like rivers and desert winds shaping the earth.To understand how he did this, I carefully copied the direction of each of his lines.
