■ Glucocorticoid replacement: Dexamethasone 6–8 mg IV is preferred over
hydrocortisone 100 mg IV initially as it does not interfere with any diag-
nostic tests.
■ Mineralocorticoid replacement: Fludrocortisone should be administered
with dexamethasone, but is unnecessary with hydrocortisone at the doses
used to treat adrenal crisis.
■ Search for underlying condition causing the adrenal crisis, eg, infection,
acute coronary syndrome.
